Opportunities exist through public and private schools, five special needs schools, preschool programs, a healthy homeschool population, the Union University Germantown campus and a variety of continuing education offerings for both children and adults from GPAC, Germantown Community Library, Parks and Recreation and more.

Adults participate in various types of educational activities in order to obtain knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the workplace, school or just to enhance community and individual well being. The City strives to provide activities that will promote adult lifelong learning and continuing education opportunities for the public. Parks and Recreation, the Germantown Community Library and the Germantown Performing Arts Center are all venues that offer educational programs to the public. The continuity of a program is based on participation levels. Fiscal year 2023 shows a 62.91% participation rate. This is a statistically significant increase compared to fiscal year 2018 and 2017. Compared to fiscal year 2018, this participation rate increased by 26 percentiles. The City is continuing to work together to provide adult learning programs and events that help meet the needs of the resident.

Description
Books from Birth was formally organized in the summer of 2005, as the Shelby County affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, after a state-wide effort brought the Imagination Library to all children in Tennessee's 95 counties. The mission of Books from Birth is to promote kindergarten readiness and strengthen family bonds in Shelby County by providing age-appropriate books for all children from birth to age five (Books from Birth).
Analysis
Fiscal year 2024 shows that 69.3% of residents ages 5 and under are enrolled in Books from Birth. This is a 7 percentile decrease in enrollment from fiscal year 2023. Furthermore, in zip code 38139 69% of the children that were eligible enrolled into the program and in 38138 69% of the children that were eligible enrolled into the program.
